The beds were placed at both sides of the crossing at the start of August, and on Wednesday morning the new signage was added, also on either side of the beds.

Harbour Master Captain David Barker previously said the planters were introduced to improve pedestrian safety, and to prevent pavement cycling.

They were soon adjusted to “better cater for those with restricted mobility” less than a week after installation.

Captain Barker has since told Express that, following discussions with Traffic and Highway Services, it was decided that signs for the planters “would be beneficial” for pedestrians and cyclists.

“We then ordered the signs which have now been delivered and fitted,” he added.
