The States have contracted Geomarine to carry out the repairs. They should be completed by the end of September.
The States’ Trading Supervisory Board, in its role overseeing Guernsey Harbours, said the competitive tendering exercise to select Geomarine was delayed by the covid-19 pandemic.
“The works have been scheduled for this summer season to take advantage of the better weather and the low spring tides that occur during this period,” it said.
“Geomarine was selected as the preferred tenderer using a range of criteria assessing bid quality and value engineering proposals.
“The design of the repairs has considered a more robust approach to help withstand severe weather events in the future.”

The tendering process for the project started in January 2020.
In November 2020, the Policy & Resources Committee said it hoped to accelerate the repairs to the slipway and it will now be one of the first capital projects to get underway in the current States’ term.
The repairs are funded from the States’ capital reserve.
The public is reminded that there is currently no access to the Slipway.
Mariners are reminded that ‘Local Notices to Mariners 005/2019’ is still in force and the structure should not be used until the notice has been rescinded.
