Alex Herschel, Guernsey Electricity’s Environmental Sustainability Manager, led the review and redesign of the strategy during her six-month secondment to the Environment & Infrastructure Committee.
“Guernsey Electricity was very supportive of my secondment to the States to advise and work on the Strategy for Nature as the company is committed to helping to lead the way on promoting environmental sustainability in Guernsey,” she said.

“At the core of the strategy is the ethos that the more the community cares for nature, the more it will want to protect it. The stronger the awareness of the value of nature and the pressures it is facing, the greater the likelihood that individuals, organisations and businesses perform actions to support and protect nature.”
Ms Herschel’s seconded role is to liaise with various key stakeholders within the States and externally, including environmental non-government organisations, to ensure the Strategy for Nature and supporting action plan meets the needs and aspirations of all those involved.

We are delighted to have supported the development of the new Strategy through Alex and look to lead the transition to a carbon-neutral future.”
