Celebrating the autumn equinox

A ceremony of music and community is taking place this weekend to mark the autumn equinox.
The event will take place on Saturday 20 September from 17:00 until 23:00 at La Hougue Bie, and incorporate movement, voice, breathwork, dance, and sacred ceremony.
Organisers are inviting islanders for a special evening of sacred spaces and soulful, upbeat dance music to give thanks for the abundance of summer.
Attendees are invited to tune into their innate nature as the wheel turns to start the inward journey towards the stillness of winter.
The event includes yoga with Annabel Rae, breathwork and meditation with Joe Houze, a ladies-only sound bath with Sally Young, a rose cacao ceremony and sacred song circle, and music from DJ Craig Alder.
Tickets are free for children under 16, and £25 for adults.

Bowl Ā Crock

Les Quennevais Skatepark is set to welcome hundreds of skateboarders this weekend for the second edition of the Bowl Ā Crock festival.
The celebration of skateboarding culture is taking place on Saturday 20 September, from 11:00 until 21:00.
The event is free to attend and includes live bands and DJs, with prizes to be won and various pop-up and food stalls available on site.
The event will also feature leading British skateboarder Jordan Thackeray, world champion wheelchair motocross rider Tomas Woods and Felipe Nunes, a professional skateboarder who lost both his legs in an train accident at the age of six.
There will be workshops on offer throughout the day for attendees to take part in, all free of charge.
Camping and accommodation options are available over the weekend from Friday 19 until Monday 22 September at the Jersey Scout Centre in St Ouen.

Jersey Festival of Words

This year’s Jersey Festival of Words is taking place from Friday 19 September until 28 September, celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The festival is a celebration of the power of story telling, language, and imagination.
It brings together authors, poets, performers, and readers for a vibrant programme of events – over half of which are free entry.
The events will be hosted at various locations around the island, including Jersey Library, Jersey Arts Centre, and the Freedom Centre, just to name a few.
The lineup features the likes of Lee Durrell, Aurelie Boas, Paul Darroch and Kelly Frost.

Elizabeth Castle open day

Elizabeth Castle will be open for free entry on Sunday 21 September.
Visitors will be able to view the newly renovated Officers’ Quarters and Military Hospital, and tour new retreat accommodation and community spaces.
Due to the tides, walking to the castle on the causeway is possible from 11:00.
If travelling by ferry, tickets will need to be purchased for the amphibious Castle Ferry only.
Last entry to the castle will be at 14:30.

Jersey RFC Women v Portsmouth Valkyries

Jersey RFC women will play their first home league game of the season this weekend.
On Sunday 21 September, Jersey RFC Women will take on Portsmouth Valkyries.
Entry to the event is free, with no tickets required, and the clubhouse will be open to all.
The match will be held at Jersey Rugby club (CoinShares Park) with kick off at 13:00.

Lions Muddy Fun Run

Lions Club of Jersey will be hosting a Muddy Fun Run on Saturday 20 September at the south of La Hougue Bie.
Access is sign-posted from Princes Tower Road (the road from Five Oaks to La Hougue Bie).
The course is 3.5k long, designed to be suitable for all, and family friendly with multiple obstacles to tackle.
Start times range from 11:30 to 15:00, and can be chosen when registering for the event.
Children taking part in the event must be aged 7+ and above 1.2m in height.
Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of three children per adult.
Those taking part should arrive on site and check-in 20 minutes before their starting time.
Participants will be released in batches every 5 to 10 minutes on race day.
Tickets are £11 for children and £22 for adults. Team tickets are also available.
