The department were asked to reveal how much they’ve been spending hobnobbing since 2010 but they’ve managed to jammie dodge the question on a Freedom of Information technicality.
The Freedom of Information law has been in place since the beginning of the year, giving all of us the freedom to ask States departments what we want answers to.
But if it’s something that is going to take a States department longer than 12.5 hours to answer, then they have the right to decline to answer on the basis that it would be a waste of taxpayer’s money.
The Education Department will be keeping their biscuit budget under wraps, having determined that this information is exempt under Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
