Guide Dogs Jersey’s Biggest Book Sale has raised £18,000 to help provide guide dogs for people living with sight loss.
Around 20,000 second-hand books were available at the charity’s 32nd annual sale, held at Peacock Farm on La Route de Maufant in Trinity on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October.
Nearly 80 helpers supported the two-day event by transporting books, setting up, serving shoppers and clearing away afterwards.

Announcing the fundraising total, organisers said the empty boxes left behind told the story of the weekend’s success.
They thanked everyone who donated or bought books, as well as Albert Bartlett for allowing the charity to use its large store at Peacock Farm.
“The end result is to provide a Guide Dog that will change someone’s life,” the team said.
The sale offered fiction, reference books and specialist titles, alongside rare and valuable books for collectors. A dedicated children’s section had books priced at 25p each.

Attendees could also meet Jersey’s working guide dogs and puppies in training, and learn more about the charity’s support for people with sight loss.
The Biggest Book Sale is the charity’s main annual fundraiser. Its first event, held at Trinity Parish Hall in 1994, raised £4,829.
The sale has raised £615,402 over its 32-year history, with no event held in 2020 because of the pandemic.

Guide Dogs Jersey also holds smaller specialist book sales at St Ouen’s Parish Hall.
Last year, its four sales raised a combined £28,345, while three additional sales earlier in 2026 raised £8,323 before the latest event.
