A one-off evening of “soul-filled tunes, hot swing and captivating tales” is coming to Jersey next week in tribute to American jazz star Billie Holiday.

British jazz singer Carrie Hamilton will star in ‘Lady Sings the Blues’ at The Sundown on Thursday 12 June in aid of Kairos Arts – a local charity dedicated to improving emotional health and wellbeing through therapeutic arts.

An established jazz artist and music educator, Carrie is also classically trained and regularly sings, composes and arranges with bands worldwide.

The one-night-only event will feature tracks from the legendary jazz star Billie Holiday, who made significant contributions to jazz music and pop singing before her death in 1959 at the age of 44.

Cathy Sara, the founder and CEO of Kairos Arts, said she was “very excited” that Carrie was supporting the charity.

“We’re so grateful that this amazing artist is performing this very special gig to raise money for our work,” she said.

“Everyone who comes will not only enjoy a fabulous evening of music, entertainment and creativity, but they can also find out more about what we do right here in Jersey to help people benefit from therapeutic creative arts.”
