Rabeys Commercial Vehicles was part of the Guernsey-based Garenne Group, which itself collapsed that month. Another group company, Camerons, had suddenly stopped trading at the end of February, leaving many creditors out of pocket.
The joint liquidators of Rabeys Universal Limited, which owned the Jersey-based part of the vehicle business, has recently appointed UK auction house John Pye & Sons Ltd to oversee the sale of firm’s vehicles and garage equipment.
An online auction at www.johnpye.co.uk is now taking place until 12 pm Friday. A public viewing took place last month.
Nearly 250 items are up for sale, including 2022 Fiat Doblo Cargo 1.6 multijet vans, 2023 Renault traffic vans and 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrac 4x4s.

Garage equipment includes Stertil Koni column lifts, a range of Axel Stands and Trolly Jacks, Sealey Repair Kits as well as selected hand tools.
Ben Ernstzen, Business Assets Valuer at John Pye, said: “John Pye Auctions is sorry that Rabeys is in this situation, particularly as the business has such a strong and long-standing reputation in Jersey and we will do our utmost to secure the best value.”
John Pye has also been appointed to manage the sale of vehicles and assets from Rabeys’ Guernsey garage,which ceased operations last month.
