A States Member and the director of a longstanding hotel appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, where they were accused of arranging for Rwandan nationals to work without the proper authorisation.
Philip Francis Cyril Ozouf (55) and Savoy Hotel director Roberto Lora (49) were jointly accused of three charges of arranging for people to work at My Eco Laundry who were only allowed to work in roles agreed by the Home Affairs Minister.
Deputy Ozouf faced two more offences of arranging for people to work at the laundry, and Mr Lora faced one offence of employing someone at his home without permission.
The case was prosecuted by legal adviser Luisa Stuart. Deputy Ozouf was defended by Advocate James Bell and Mr Lora was defended by Advocate Nicholas Nicholas Mière.
Magistrate Bridget Shaw sent the matter to the Royal Court.
They were both released on bail and are due to appear in the Royal Court on 3 October.
