The Locate Jersey team struck gold at a major international mining conference in Africa last year and has encouraged a new company to set up in the Island.
Digby Wells Environmental provides environmental and social services to the mineral resources, mining and construction industries and plans to use its new Island base to expand its services to clients across Europe and Africa.
CEO of Digby Wells Environmental in South Africa Graham Trusler said: “Together with the London office, this company will bring us closer to our current, and prospective clients in Europe and Africa, including those in the financial and commercial centres. The new offices have been established in response to demand as we undertake more projects across Africa, Europe and elsewhere.”
Locate Jersey, run by the States is responsible for promoting; attracting and retaining inward investment for the Island.
Economic Development Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham said: “This shows the value of Locate Jersey and local intermediaries attending select conferences. This new business will create new jobs and opportunities in the local economy and is welcome addition to the growing natural resources sector in Jersey. Locate Jersey will again attend Mining Indaba next month along with 12 local intermediaries, the largest ever Jersey presence at this prestigious conference.”
