The Jersey FA will be holding a free afternoon ‘kick-about’ next week as it seeks to use football “as a force for good” by bringing people together and supporting islanders who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation during the festive period.
The community initiative will take place on Monday from 13:30 to 15:30 at the sports hall at Les Quennevais Sports Centre.
Described as a “free afternoon kick-about” for those aged 16 and above, the event is intended to “encourage conversation and gentle football activity”.
Islanders taking part will be able to enjoy small-sided football games or simply come along for a chat, a cup of tea or coffee, and a mince pie.
Jersey FA chairman Jimmy Kelly said: “This event reflects the Jersey FA’s ongoing commitment to using football as a force for good.”
He continued: “We know Christmas is a difficult period for some, and this relaxed gathering on Monday marks the next part of our work supporting wellbeing, inclusion, and community connection across the island.”
Those wishing to attend do not need to register in advance, though local charities who may wish to enter a small team can find out more information by contacting Jersey FA football development officer Luke Appleton via email at Luke.Appleton@jerseyfa.com.
