Photographer Aneta Jeziorska-Entwistle, who partnered with James’ Ark founder James Cunningham for the initiative, spoke to Express about the importance of the project.
She said: “The practice of taking family photographs is deeply rooted in the desire to preserve memories, stay connected, and celebrate important milestones of loved ones.
“The images could be displayed in the home, allowing families to feel closer, even when physically apart.”
She also explained that for the prisoners, seeing themselves in a positive light can be empowering.
The initiative follows James’ Ark’s mission to be a “beacon of hope and healing for families navigating the challenging waters of separation” and to reconnect children with their fathers.
The charity also runs a 24/7 helpline for families in crisis and offers support services including counselling and mental health support.
