DFDS has today released its sailing schedule between Jersey and France.

There will be daily crossings to St Malo to accommodate peak season demand from May onwards.

Until then, the Danish shipping giant will operate a ferry between Jersey and St Malo five days a week – completing a total of eight rotations each week.

Passengers will travel to France on board the Tarifa Jet, a high-speed ferry that can accommodate over 700 travellers and up to 175 vehicles.

The 86.2m vessel offers free Wi-Fi, a cafeteria and a boutique shop.

DFDS said it “remains committed to delivering a flexible service that works for everyone, with the ability to add extra sailings when demand requires”.

Chris Parker, Route Director for Jersey, said: “These schedules emphasise our commitment to providing a dependable and efficient service for all travellers, with the options for day trips or longer holidays.

“We would like to thank islanders for their patience while we have been finalising our schedules to France.

“We will continue to enhance our services over the coming months to ensure we are best serving the island.”

Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel added: “I am excited about the opportunities that our new partnership with DFDS will bring.

“Improved connectivity to France should be of benefit to us all.

“Our social, cultural and economic relationships with Brittany and Normandy are of great value and this schedule will allow us to strengthen those ties.”

Bookings for all services will open by 31 January, and DFDS will be running a joint campaign with Visit Jersey to promote travel to the island.

DFDS Vice President, Head of Business for the Channel & Baltics, Filip Hermann, will be speaking at the Jersey Chamber of Commerce lunch on 12 March, to discuss the company’s vision of future ferry services.
