New figures – which the Treasury Minister is compelled to publish after a successful proposition from Deputy Kirsten Morel in 2020 – reveal that spending on the largest 100 suppliers fell by £21m compared to 2021- predominantly due to the waning demands of the pandemic.

In 2022, £135,902,085 – or 62% of the total – was paid to organisations with a presence in Jersey, serving to circulate at least most of that money in the local economy.

These included charities, utilities, construction firms, lawyers, change consultants, States-owned companies such as JT and Jersey Post, and recruitment firms. 

84% of the top 100 supplier’s expenditure covered three main sectors: construction and facilities management, health and community care, and IT and change services.
