Islanders are being offered free diabetes screenings this week to mark World Diabetes Day.
The blood glucose tests will be carried out between 09:00 and 17:00 at Grand Marché St
Helier on Thursday 13 November and Grand Marché St Peter on Friday 14 November.
Normally priced at £7.50, the screenings will be offered free of charge during the two-day event, with no appointments necessary.
Pharmacists will be on hand to interpret results, provide education on diabetes management, and answer any questions or concerns.
The initiative, organised by the Channel Islands Coop Pharmacy in partnership with Diabetes Jersey, aims to promote early detection and empower patients to make informed decisions about their health.
Coop Pharmacy head of care Sara Kynicos said: “The simple test could save a life, and by offering free screenings we hope to raise awareness of the symptoms and risks associated with diabetes and encourage early diagnosis.”
Peter Tabb from Diabetes Jersey added: “The free testing being offered by the CI Coop is one of the most valuable exercises in helping the charity raise the profile of the condition and we are very grateful for that.
“More particularly, it is understood that there are many people in Jersey who have diabetes and don’t know it or are on the cusp of acquiring it. This is an ideal way of finding out.”
