Almost 100 islanders gathered in town this week to support Acorn with a nutty fundraiser in memory of former employee Dean Lowe.
Dean – who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in August 2023 alongside his 11-year-old son Charlie – worked for the Jersey Employment Trust, a charity that supports islanders with disabilities or long-term health conditions to secure and sustain employment through social enterprise Acorn.
Dylan Pounds was found guilty of causing the deaths of the father and son by dangerous driving following a week-long Royal Court trial in October.
The 29-year-old was jailed for 15 years in December.

Before the tragic incident, Dean walked the virtual London Marathon wearing a squirrel costume with colleague Kiley Henley.
Inspired by his efforts, the ‘Go Nuts for Acorn’ squirrel run took place on Thursday 13 March to celebrate what would have been Dean’s 50th birthday.
Participants ran, in full squirrel costumes, from West’s Centre to Charing Cross and back to the Royal Square.
The event raised more than £11,000 for Acorn.
