Assured Property Management, which has responsibility for the Waterfront’s Castle Quay apartment blocks, recently issued letters to residents with doormats in the communal corridor area informing them of the threat the mats pose.
“After carrying out routine inspections of the property, it has been brought to our attention that you have a door mat in the communal corridor,” the letter read.
“Unfortunately, this is deemed as a health and safety risk / trip hazard therefore we ask that the mat is removed immediately from the corridor.”
Sadly, some residents didn’t appear to take this warning about the trip-hazard alert seriously.
Instead, one resident took to Facebook’s ‘Good or Bad Jersey Businesses’ to share the letter, describing it as a “joke”.
Pictured: The Facebook post received over 400 likes and upwards of 100 comments.
The post quickly attracted hundreds of ‘laugh’ reactions, with scores of islanders ridiculing the letter in the comments.
One advised the poster not to “let them walk all over you”.
Another advised to simply “brush it under the carpet.”
Another commenter described the warning as “health and safety gone mad”, suggesting that people “use a bit of common sense, open your eyes and look where you’re going!!”.
One expressed worries that “next they’ll be telling you to remove your handle as someone could get caught on it!”
