The theatre has given its old Christmas tree and decorations to The Shelter Trust and they will now be taking centre stage at Evans House – the charity’s home for the over 25’s.
Shelter Trust Manager Annie McGarragle said: “We are really grateful to Jersey Opera House for gifting their decorations. Now the atmosphere at the Shelter will feel a lot more festive which will benefit everyone who is using the Shelter at this time of year.”
It’s the charity’s busiest time – it’s currently putting a roof over the heads of 86 people in four different sites, the highest numbers ever.
The Opera House’s Marketing & Sales Manager Abi Nance said: “It’s wonderful that we have been able to help The Shelter Trust this Christmas. Donating our decorations to a local charity was an obvious move and we are delighted that The Shelter took us up on the offer. As a non-profit making organisation ourselves, it’s such a positive that this year we have been able to spread a little Christmas cheer.”
A good helping of soup made sure the charity’s residents will all get to tuck in to a proper Christmas dinner this year too.
The annual soup kitchen in the Royal Square raised over £11,000 at the beginning of the month.
