Anaya Kogi and Lorenza Nimmo, who are both in Year 12 at Jersey College for Girls, will be heading to the Junk Kouture world final in October with their design, ‘Media Jiometori’.
Junk Kouture hold an annual fashion design competition for students aged 13 to 18, encouraging them to be creative and sustainable at the same time.
The world final will see 60 designs – selected from regional finals in New York, Paris, Milan, Dublin, and Abu Dhabi – compete in front of a panel of judges.
Anaya and Lorenza’s design is not the first time JCG has been recognised by the Junk Kouture judges, with three sixth form students also making it to the 2022 world finals in Abu Dhabi last year.
Junk Kouture judge, broadcaster and author Mehreen Baig said: “It’s been such a privilege to witness these young designers’ creative self-expression and commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion practices.
“The way they expressed themselves through their innovative designs that combine sustainability, creativity and style, was truly inspiring. I am excited to see their designs come to life and cheer them on at the Junk Kouture World Final in London.”
The 2023 world finals will be held in London’s OVO Arena Wembley on 12 October.
