What happens when a male comedian is handed a script exploring female desire, relationships and sex – and has to perform it cold in front of a live audience?

Jersey audiences will find out later this month when local performers Christian Jegard and John Henry Falle take to the stage for ‘Manwatching’, the internationally acclaimed theatre show in which a man reads an unseen script for the very first time.

The internationally acclaimed theatrical phenomenon will be staged at Capital House at 7pm on Friday 19 June and Saturday 20 June as part of ArtHouse Jersey’s summer series.

Part confession, part comedy and part social experiment, Manwatching sees a male performer walk on stage having never seen the script before.

Written anonymously by a woman and first developed by London’s Royal Court Theatre, the show explores heterosexual female desire, relationships and sex, with the text read aloud in real time by an unprepared man.

Comedian Christian Jegard will take on the challenge on Friday, followed by writer and performer John Henry Falle on Saturday.

ArtHouse Jersey chief executive Tom Dingle said: “Part of the thrill of Manwatching is that audiences are discovering the piece at exactly the same time as the performer.

“It creates this brilliant tension between comedy, vulnerability and spontaneity where literally anything could happen.

“Christian and John Henry are both incredibly different performers with completely distinct energies and instincts, which means audiences can expect two genuinely unique nights.”

Manwatching takes place at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June at 7pm.

This performance contains sexually explicit language and explores themes of a sexual nature. Recommended age guidance 16+.

Tickets cost £20 and are available via Eventbrite.
