Robert Kevin Passman (31) pleaded guilty to the offences in the Royal Court on Friday.

The Court heard from Crown Advocate Emma Hollywood that the charge of common assault took place on the same day, when Passman punched a woman twice in the face and then put his arm around her throat, making the victim feel sick, scared and faint.

The attempted escape took place in the Magistrate’s Court on 18 September. On hearing that he was being remanded in custody, Passman, who was walking with crutches at the time, jumped over the barrier around the dock and moved towards the Magistrate.

He managed to throw one of his crutches towards the judge, which hit the Court Greffier on her arm, before he was restrained. It took five people to bring Passman under control.

On 20 November, while on remand at HMP La Moye, Passman was seen by a prison officer maliciously damaging a sink, a safe, a mobile phone, a television, a desk, a cell door and a screen cover, with a total cost of £579 to repair.

Passman will next appear in Court on 12 March.
