The victory by eighth-placed Jersey Rugby Football Club ends a 24-game winning run by high-flying Worcester, whose squad includes Chris Pennell, the only Elite England player plying his trade in the Greene King IPA Championship.
After trailing 10-14 at the break, it took a late drop goal by UBS Man-of-the-Match Aaron Penbethy to seal the points for Jersey in front of a crowd of almost 3,000 fans.
With four games left to play, the Reds are sitting comfortably in the middle of the table – their haul of 37 points leaves them well ahead of bottom-placed Plymouth Albion with 20 points, and second-bottom Moseley with 25.
Head Coach Harvey Biljon – who is in his first full season in Jersey – felt the result matched the last-day win at Bedford last season as his best in the job.
He said: “It was a fantastic, brave effort by the whole squad.
“The Bedford result gave us the chance to be here and playing Worcester, so it’s difficult to choose between them.
“We had a young front row out there and I wanted those players to be out from the start and urged them to enjoy the chance to take on top-flight opposition.”
