The figures are revealed in a Freedom of Information request asking for the nationality and ethnicity that applicants listed on their application forms last year.
When it comes to ethnicity, the vast majority of applicants (90.3%) described themselves as White UK / European. 107 applicants defined themselves as ‘African’, 43 as ‘Indian’, 23 as ‘Chinese’, 28 as ‘Caribbean’ and 45 as ‘of Asian background’. 4% of applicants, however, chose not to state their ethnicity and there were a number of other categories.
Of the 521 new appointments, 44.14% stated their ethnicity as White British and 35.32% stated their ethnicity as White Jersey.
