Part of the dock at St Aubin’s Harbour is out of service after a car crashed into the railings yesterday.

Temporary railings have been put in place as a “precautionary measure”, and the dry dock pads east of the Boathouse are “out of order”.

These measures will remain in place until replacement railings are installed and the ladder damaged in the collision is repaired.

Police received a report of the incident at 12.45pm on Tuesday in which a black Range Rover crashed into white railings in the St Aubin car park.

A photograph anonymously posted to a local Facebook group yesterday showed the vehicle hanging over the side of the barrier.

Police say that, although no injuries were reported, the driver was taken to hospital.

Firefighters, honorary police officers, and Ports of Jersey personnel also attended the incident.

St Brelade Constable Mike Jackson, who was coincidentally in the area at the time, said: “I was just coming back from town and there were lots of blue flashing lights.”

He said there was “a bit of damage to repair” as the vehicle collided with the part of the fencing where a ladder owned by Ports of Jersey was located.

A Ports of Jersey spokesperson told Express: “Our duty engineer attended to isolate a damaged electrical bollard.

“Temporary railings have also been installed as a safety precaution until a permanent solution can be implemented.

“The dry dock pads east of the Boathouse are currently classed as out of service until replacement railings and a ladder are installed.”
