A pet transport company has announced it will end its services to the Channel Islands next month – citing rising operating costs and the loss of a reliable inter-island transport link as key factors.

The Pet Bus – which transports pets to Jersey and Guernsey by road in a specially adapted vehicle – has confirmed it will cease transporting animals to the islands at the end of March.

The family-run company, based in North Oxfordshire, is owned and managed by Lesley and Gary Ford. It has been serving the Channel Islands for many years.

A post on The Pet Bus Facebook page said: “This is an incredibly emotional decision for us.

“Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful pets and the people who love them.

“We’ve watched nervous travellers settle into our arms, celebrated joyful reunions, and shared countless moments that reminded us why we do what we do.”

The post continued: “Unfortunately, challenges have made it increasingly difficult for us to continue, including the loss of a regular, reliable inter‑island transport link, which has made the service impossible to sustain.”

The Pet Bus will be honouring bookings from islanders until the end of March 2026.
