Jersey’s Housing Minister will join a panel of property professionals, housing providers and a political rival at a live event next week, exploring whether the island is still in the midst of a housing crisis and, if so, what needs to be done to resolve it.

Housing… crisis averted? will take place at the Pomme d’Or Hotel at 5pm on Wednesday 23 April, offering islanders a chance to hear directly from the Minister shaping Jersey’s housing policies, and those responding to their consequences on the ground.

Joining Deputy Sam Mézec on the panel will be a number of experienced voices from across the sector:

  • Michael Van Neste MBE, founder of the Jersey Homes Trust
  • Captain Alice Nunn, who has first-hand experience delivering practical support to islanders facing homelessness and hardship at the Salvation Army
  • Harry Trower, Director of Broadlands estate agents
  • Deputy David Warr, former Housing Minister
  • Matt Watson, CEO of event sponsor Tenn Capital

The event, which is sponsored by prime property lending experts Tenn Capital, will be chaired by Bailiwick Express and Connect editor Fiona Potigny and follow a Question Time-style format, with the discussion driven by questions submitted by the public.

Topics up for discussion include affordability, regulation, housing quality, homelessness, and the role of government in supporting – or stalling – development.

The panel will also explore the long-term vision for housing in Jersey and what’s needed to ensure it meets the island’s social and economic needs.

Tickets are available here and attendees are encouraged to submit their questions in advance.

They are priced at £15 for general admission and £10 for students or charities (fees included). AIM Plus subscribers can attend for free – simply email marketing@allisland.media to secure a place. Signing up to AIM Plus starts at as little as £1, and unlocks access to online exclusive content from the JEP and Bailiwick Express, as well as tickets to our events.
