The biggest spender on papers and magazines was Health and Social Services who paid out £75,392.81. The FOI response says that this figure “includes magazine subscriptions to specialist journals for Health professionals.”

Health was followed by Education, whose expenditure of £40,677 includes stocking the Jersey Library and the island’s 35 schools.

The person who submitted the request also wanted to know how many of the 8,000 States employees subscribed to the JEP online. The FOI department responded: “For those departments able to provide this information there are 24 subscriptions to JEP online.”

The FOI also confirmed that 12 departments who were able to respond to the request pay for the delivery of newspapers.

Express has approached the Health department for a comment, but so far, has not received any response.
