Drone users have been reminded of the rules around flying near Jersey Airport after a reported sighting led to the closure of the runway.
A report was made on Monday morning and there was temporary disruption to services while investigations were carried out.
Following the incident, St Brelade Honorary Police have now shared a reminder of the Island’s drone safety code, warning islanders that “the penalties for endangering and disrupting civil aviation are severe”.
Know the rules
The guidance reminds operators that they are legally responsible for their drone flights and must always keep the aircraft within sight while avoiding collisions.
Drones must not be flown higher than 400ft (122m) or within two nautical miles of Jersey Airport without permission from Air Traffic Control.
The code also warns that drones fitted with cameras must not be flown within 50 metres of people, vehicles or buildings, or over or within 150 metres of congested areas such as towns, villages or large outdoor gatherings.
Anyone using a drone commercially must also hold the appropriate permission for aerial work.
