Springfield Stadium will undergo a major refurbishment and upgrade programme this summer, with works aimed at extending the life of the grandstand by a further 30 years.

The government project has been described as “critical” to maintaining the long-term operation of the island’s stadium, with recent condition reports and a detailed inspection confirming that significant works are required.

Springfield’s grandstand, which is approaching 30 years old, features an exposed structure made up of steelwork and reinforced concrete terraces.

Phase one of the project, scheduled for summer 2026, will include the replacement of side panel glazing, stripping and repainting of structural steelwork, upgrades to emergency lighting and localised roof repairs.

During the refurbishment period, the grandstand seating and pitch will be closed.

The government said it has been working with Jersey Bulls and the Jersey Football Association, with discussions ongoing to manage the impact on fixtures and activities.

While the café, gym, nursery and clinical services at the site are expected to remain open throughout the works, some disruption is anticipated, particularly in relation to reduced parking and access.

Officials said they would continue engaging with stakeholders and the public in an effort to minimise disruption during the programme.
