They have confirmed that the man was arrested in the town area at around midday.
The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
Yesterday, a 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of the same offence. She also remains in police custody.
The hospital have confirmed that the victim of the assault was treated in the Intensive Care Unit overnight, and left hospital this morning.
