Jersey Scottish FC is in “desperate” need of a permanent home for over 200 young footballers to ensure the club’s survival.

The club, which was formed in 1960, set up its mini and junior teams in 2019 and launched a girls-only team this year.

Lead coach James Scott said that finding a base for the sport was “massively important”.

“We’re in a good place as a club, we have 200 children playing from aged five to 15,” he said.

“We’re really hopeful that, if we can find a home and a base, we’ll be able to bring these juniors through the pathway all the way to senior football.”

Club president Pat Brennan explained that parish football clubs in Jersey often have their own home pitches.

“There’s something permanent about having your own place,” he explained.

“We would love the chance to be able to do that.”

Mr Scott added: “We are in desperate need to find a place that we could call home with a full-sized football pitch and a clubhouse so that we can have someone for the children to go through the age groups.

“Realistically, if we don’t have that, then the club is not going to survive.”
