A woman has been accused of assaulting a teenage girl who was reading a book outside a mosque.
Tamara Nadine Dubois (36) appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning alongside her partner Jade Clark James Hamon (51) in relation to alleged abusive behaviour outside Jersey’s Islamic Centre on Friday 6 March.
The two defendants were jointly charged with threatening, abusive or disorderly conduct.
Ms Dubois was also charged with assaulting two men and a young girl outside the mosque.
Legal adviser Harrison Gollop, prosecuting, said the girl was “reading a book outside the mosque” before the alleged assault took place.
He added that further alleged assaults then took place against two other men before police were called.
Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke declined jurisdiction and sent the matter to the Royal Court for an indictment hearing on Friday 12 June.
Ms Dubois and Mr Hamon remain on bail with conditions to live and sleep at their residence and not contact the young girl or six others.
They were also ordered to stay away from any areas in or around the Islamic Centre, as dictated by a map approved by the Assistant Magistrate.
