One small act in Jersey will help make a big difference in Madagascar… thanks to one young boy’s love of lemurs.
After Jacob heard about the cyclones in Madagascar, he was keen to make sure the people – and lemurs – were safe.
Twin cyclones struck the island country in early February, hitting some of the most vulnerable communities hardest, and causing widespread flooding and destruction to homes, infrastructure, land and lemur habitats.
Deciding to use his creativity for a good cause, the youngster made bracelets and keyrings to raise money.
In total, he made 176 at home, raising £332.40 by selling them at school to support his favourite animal.
Jersey Zoo praised Jacob for his efforts, and decided to give him a special treat to show their appreciation.
“To say thank you for his incredible fundraising, we took him to meet his favourite animal!” the team said.
