Andrew Bridgman was the fifth placed British competitor in a recent global sailing competition – where he was entered in the ‘Gold Fleet’.

The Foiling Waszp World Championships campaign kicked off at the end of July.

It features a series of races, including the main regatta in Weymouth and Portland, which saw Bridgman finish 37th out of 70 sailors in the Gold Fleet, and 211 sailors overall.

The championships have taken place annually since 2017 and this year is the first time they have taken place in the UK.

With Bridgman qualifying for the Gold Fleet – representing the top 70 sailors in the whole competition – he had to battle it out over eight races in three days to see who would be crowned world champion.

He had a few days rest in Guernsey following that competition before heading to his next which is the Scottish Nationals, and then he’s competing in the UK Nationals which will be the final regatta of the season.

Bridgman is supported by TISE.

Cees Vermaas, the CEO of TISE, recently said: “We’re delighted to once again support Andrew in his mission to be number one in the world. Sailing at this level takes a lot of commitment in a number of different ways and so we are pleased to offer our assistance.

“All of us here at TISE wish Andrew the very best for the season ahead and especially the world championships in the UK.”
