Guernsey’s strongest woman Lizzie Singer has made her mark on the national circuit, shrugging off a shoe malfunction on the way.
Singer was runner-up in the u64kg category at UKNS England’s Strongest Woman, securing an automatic invite to the next round in Scotland on 16 May to take on competitors from other home nations.

The competition took place over five events at Loughborough University.
She won the log lift for reps with a 65kg rep, the heavier log which trumped any reps her competitors produced at 50kg.
In the deadlift for reps she again competed with the higher weight, producing nine reps for second.
The super yoke was 180kg carried over 24m. Her 15.97s clocking was third quickest.
Her lowest position was in the farmers walk over 84m.

“I wore walking boots and the sole of my left shoe came halfway off and was rolling under my foot so I was hobbling from the get go. It meant I lost good time but still came fourth overall. A few people said it was amazing that I even finished the event,” she said.
“It was a definite added challenge.”
Second place in the final event of the day, atlas stone shouldering, where she produced six reps, secured her final overall position behind Rachel Jackson who had won four events and five points clear of Tasmin Ribton-Turner in third.
