The Guernsey Institute of Directors has opened applications for its 2026 Leadership Shadowing programme.

The initiative is part of the IoD’s Future Leaders programme, and pairs sixth-form students with senior business leaders for a two to three-day placement.

The IoD says the programme allows students to observe team management and leadership in a professional environment. It is supported by KPMG, Source Recruitment, and Orchard PR.

Following the placement, students present their observations to a panel which then chooses ten finalists. They then present their observations at an evening event at The OGH, where the overall winner is awarded the Martyn Mann Trophy.

Linda Johnson, a Partner at KPMG and the scheme’s coordinator, believes the programme provides a rewarding experience for participants.

“The IoD Leadership Shadowing team are extremely proud to be able to offer this rewarding experience to Guernsey’s Year 12 students and grateful for the continued commitment of our local business community.

“The scheme continues to go from strength to strength, and KPMG is pleased to remain a long-term partner.”

Julia Martin, Managing Director of Source Recruitment, said those who take part in the initiative show a changed understanding of leadership after completing their placements.

“We are delighted to continue our support for the IoD Leadership Shadowing programme that bridges the gap between the classroom and the boardroom.

“At Source, we see firsthand how vital leadership and adaptability are in the modern workplace; giving Year 12 students a front-row seat to those dynamics is an invaluable investment in Guernsey’s future workforce.”

The closing date for applications is Friday 6 March 2026, and any interested students are invited to apply online HERE.
