Tens of thousands of pounds have been awarded to charities across the Bailiwicks by the Butterfield Charitable Trust.

Applications opened last year for causes which support the people of the islands, foster community support, or further environmental protections.

Grants of £10,000 or more have been given to Headway in Guernsey, which supports people living with serious brain injuries, and Healing Waves in Jersey, which offers ocean therapy for people with disabilities and mental health difficulties.

Smaller grants have gone to Action for Children, Guernsey Welfare Service, St John, and The Village at Le Murier.

Guernsey Friends of Maggie’s also received a grant which covers service users from across the Channel Islands.

Richard Saunders, Butterfield’s Managing Director for the Channel Islands & the UK, said: “This initiative is very much in line with our continued commitment to the local community, and we are pleased to be able to help provide funding to those who make a difference to the lives of others”.

Applications are reviewed annually by the independent Charitable Trust Committee and according to key criteria, including the ability to measure outcomes and impact, to ensure a fair process.

Applications for grants will re-open on 1 January 2026.
