The Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) announced the win, at the PICCASO Privacy Awards Europe, saying it is “delighted” for her.

Representing ‘Privacy, InfoSec, Culture, Change, Awareness, Societal, and Organisation’, the PICCASO Privacy Awards are intended to recognise and highlight people and organisations making an outstanding contribution to the sector.

The award recognises Ms Martin’s career which has included overseeing the evolution of data protection in the Channel Islands over the past twenty years.

She was initially Commissioner for both Jersey and Guernsey before taking over a dedicated Guernsey role when the offices separated.

Ms Martin’s tenure as Bailiwick Data Protection Commissioner will be coming to an end in December.

Brent Homan who is currently Deputy Commissioner, Compliance of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, is replacing her in the role.
