Scottish ice cream producer James Rizza & Sons, has won first place at the UK National Ice Cream Awards for it’s Double Dairy Gold Vanilla product, made using Guernsey Dairy double cream.

Guernsey Dairy has been supplying Rizza’s with Guernsey double cream since 2022,
exporting three to four batches a year – each containing around 500 litres.

The winning vanilla ice cream impressed the judges with its ‘exceptional richness and depth of flavour’.

“The quality of cream is crucial to the final product, especially in a classic flavour like vanilla,” said Philip Morrison, Managing Director at James Rizza & Sons.

“Guernsey Dairy double cream gives our Gold Double Dairy its incredible smoothness and luxurious taste. We’ve been working with Guernsey Dairy for a few years now and it’s a relationship we really value.”

The company secured first place in the highly competitive “Open Ice Cream – Vanilla”
category at the Ice Cream Alliance’s 2025 National Ice Cream Awards.

Andrew Tabel, Guernsey Dairy’s Operations Director, was really pleased to hear the news.

“This award is not only a testament to Rizza’s creative and manufacturing prowess but also evidence of the high regard in which locally produced milk and milk products are held. This is a proud moment for Rizzas, Guernsey Dairy and our island’s dairy farmers. We’re delighted to see our cream at the heart of such an outstanding, award-winning ice cream.”

Mr Tabel said Guernsey Dairy is committed to exploring new export opportunities with both its cream and butter products gaining recognition in the UK and beyond.
