A Guernsey team has won a “meaningful donation” for a local charity after coming third in Rothschild & Co’s global in-house fitness challenge.
The Guernsey Conquerors secured €10,000 (more than £8,500) for Guernsey Motor Neurone in the firm’s ‘The Human Race’ event.
Guernsey Conquerors captain Henry Henke said it was a “true team effort”.
He added: “We supported and encouraged each other every step of the way, and keeping our chosen charity, Guernsey Motor Neurone, at the heart of what we were doing helped drive us on.
“We’re delighted to have achieved such a strong result and to be able to make a meaningful donation to a cause that is so important to us.”
The team – Mr Henke, Rachel Bailey, Amar Batth, Emma Cabrelli and Charlie Locke – showed “impressive commitment” throughout, a spokesperson said.
Teams from Rothschild’s offices around the world earned points by completing a range of sporting activities, from walking, running and cycling to yoga and martial arts, over the three-week event.
Susie Hunt, from Guernsey Motor Neurone, said: “MND is a very cruel disease, so this incredible donation will make a huge difference to what our charity is able to do to make life a little more comfortable for those living with it.
“Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to the Guernsey Conquerors team – you are all angels.”
Rothschild’s Guernsey office also had the strongest level of engagement in the challenge.
