The fund, which is managed by Merchant Capital Manager Limited, an affiliate of Continental Investment Partners SA, is targeting mainly companies listed on western stock exchanges in the oil and gas, healthcare, pharmaceutical and real estate industries.
Ogier partner Craig Cordle led a team, including senior associate Michael Richards and associate Caleb Holder, providing Guernsey law advice on the launch, working with lead counsel Gowling WLG, administrator Maitland and financial adviser Strand Hanson.
Mr Cordle said: “It was a lean year in 2017 in terms of new Guernsey London-listed investment company launches – but Ogier’s Guernsey asset management and funds team were delighted to advise on two of the three successful investment company initial public offerings – namely CIP Merchant Capital and the launch of Sherborne Investors (Guernsey) C Limited, which raised £700 million in July last year and is listed on the Specialist Fund Segment of the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.”
