Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands has appointed Andy Corbett of Lloyds International as its latest trustee.

He is Head of Client and Colleague Propositions in the Crown Dependencies and has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services.

The Foundation, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, has nine trustees who are appointed on a voluntary basis to provide it with governance and strategy.

Mr Corbett’s primary goal in his new position is to continue the work of previous trustees in supporting the Foundation’s ambitions with a particular focus on encouraging stronger collaboration between Lloyds colleagues and the Foundation, whether as mentors, volunteers or fundraisers.

“The Foundation does a huge amount for our island communities, not just as a funder but through our developmental support programmes too, our colleagues who get involved with mentoring or volunteering make a real difference, while also developing themselves,” he said.

“Lloyds Bank Foundations are a unique and special thing in the world of banking. I want to make sure that all our colleagues and communities can appreciate the work the Foundation does and the impact it has.”

He has worked for Lloyds Banking Group since 2007, but moved to Jersey just four years ago.

“It’s a real privilege to live in such a beautiful and vibrant community, and Jersey is a fantastic place to live and raise a family,” he said.

“From the outside, the Channel Islands can be perceived as a place of affluence – and it is certainly true for many people here – however, dig a little deeper and you find that like anywhere else the Channel Islands have their struggles. Though we may not like to think about it, any one of us could find ourselves needing the support of one of the many brilliant charities that serve the Channel Islands.”

He has worked across the UK in London and regional businesses with a wide range of commercial and charity sector customers. In his role in the Crown Dependencies, Mr Corbett has been involved with a variety of firms, giving him a broad insight into the commercial workings of the Channel Islands. He has spent several years volunteering in the UK where he has been able to use the skills he’s gained from across his career.

Philippa Stahelin, Chair of the Foundation, said, “We’re thrilled to have another Lloyds Banking Group colleague join our Board of Trustees. We are grateful for all the support we receive from the Bank and are always looking for ways to deepen our relationship.

“It’s wonderful that Andy sees the value of the Foundation and wants to share that insight with more colleagues. The better we can work together, the better we can serve our charities and communities in the Channel Islands.”

LBFCI funds, supports and champions charities in the Channel Island that make a positive difference to the lives of people who are socially excluded and disadvantaged, enabling them to play a fuller role in the community.

In 39 years, the Foundation has given more than £25m to charities in the Channel Islands. Alongside funding for charities in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney, LBFCI provides developmental support including mentoring to help charities to improve their resilience and sustainability.
