Oak Group has appointed Sam Matthews as Client Director for Trust & Corporate in its Guernsey office.

Mr Matthews has more than 15 years of experience managing complex structures for very wealthy clients, including trusts, companies, family offices, and pension arrangements. He will lead a new private client team, in a move Oak says reflects the firm’s continued growth.

The company said Mr Matthews’ expertise will be particularly important as Oak looks to expand its client base following its parent company, Opera, recently acquiring Amber Trust Ltd, a fiduciary business based in the Bahamas that serves wealthy individuals and families.

Julie Coutu, the Managing Director of Oak in Guernsey, said Mr Matthews’ expertise and focus align well with Oak’s values.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to our leadership team in Guernsey. His technical expertise, market insight, and dedication to client service are a perfect fit for our values at Oak.”

Ms Coutu added: “With Sam on board, we are exceptionally well positioned to support our expanding global client base and the exciting opportunities emerging from Opera’s acquisition of Amber.”

Mr Matthews said he is looking forward to contributing to Oak’s services.

“It’s a great time to be joining Oak Group as it embarks on an exciting new chapter under Opera’s ownership. As the first business in the Opera portfolio and with Project Overture guiding long-term growth, there’s real momentum across the Group.”

He continued: “I’m looking forward to contributing to Oak’s evolving private client offering, especially as we expand our UHNW services following the acquisition of Amber.”
