Mr Hannis’ promotion follows several successful years at the company.
Mr Hannis’ core responsibilities will be the day-to-day running of the services. He will report to the Board of Directors, who remain involved in business and support activities.
Beckfords Chairman, Philip Duquemin, said that Mr Hannis’ promotion bolsters the business for the long term, partly because he offers the unique abilities required to succeed in the industry.
“We are looking ahead to meeting the challenges of the future and building a management structure that will move us forward for the next 20 years,” said Mr Duquemin.
“The key skills needed to deliver this are determination, planning and organisational management and an ability to embrace technology as a tool. This is in addition to our traditional values of professional care for our families and, importantly, for each other.
“Since joining us in 2015, Zac has demonstrated that he has all these skills, which, combined with his natural empathy and compassion, make him perfect to take the lead.”
Beckfords has provided funeral services to the island for nearly 150 years. It is also the leading supplier of memorials.
