A cross-island event intended to shine a spotlight on the power of female entrepreneurship and community-focused innovation with a focus on health education and safety will take place next month in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event – called ‘Tekex 35 – Female Founder 2.0’ – will take place a few days earlier on 5 March, bringing together founders, investors, health professionals and community leaders from both Jersey and Guernsey.

It will be streamed live between the two islands and is set to feature a Dragons’ Den winner, senior industry voices and an address from Guernsey’s Policy and Resources President Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, who made history last year as the first woman to be chosen for the top job.

Speakers will explore how Jersey and Guernsey can act as testbeds for responsible innovation, enabling solutions to be trialled locally before scaling further afield

The event seeks to champion “female founders who are building businesses that protect lives, improve education and reduce risk”, with a particular focus on preventative health education as well as road safety and public wellbeing.

It is supported by Alt Collective, Rathbones, BDO, C5 Alliance and the Potting Shed.

Announcing the event, the Potting Shed stated that: “Speakers will explore how Jersey and Guernsey can act as testbeds for responsible innovation, enabling solutions to be trialled locally before scaling further afield.

“This approach reflects the ethos of International Women’s Day: celebrating women-led leadership while accelerating progress through action, investment and partnership.”

All ticket proceeds will be donated to Jersey Heart Support Group and Chest and Heart Guernsey.
