Islanders will be able to access a new discounted ferry fare after DFDS announced a 15% off scheme for Jersey residents.
The Danish ferry operator said the ‘Islanders Rate’ will apply to return journeys starting in Jersey between March and December this year.
It will be available to both foot passengers and those travelling with vehicles.
The company said the move was prompted by feedback gathered from local focus groups and community engagement work, which suggested that straightforward price reductions were the most valued benefit among islanders.
Route director Chris Parker said: “Islanders told us clearly that affordable, consistent savings on travel matter more than complex perks.”
He explained that the Islanders Rate is being introduced as a temporary measure while the company works on a broader loyalty programme that will eventually apply across its international network.
The discount will only apply to the core ferry fare on standard return tickets.
Extras such as cabins or other add-ons will not be included in the reductions, and the offer cannot be combined with other promotions.
Passengers booking the reduced rate will be required to show proof that they live in Jersey when checking in.
