The 36-hour event saw 14 teams working on collaborative Fintech projects to build an app, site or solution, with many of the teams working through the night to complete their projects. The Hackathon concluded with the teams showcasing their ideas before a final prize giving ceremony.
The second prize went to Benedict Lewis who worked alone to create NoDeck, a system to set up corporate campaigns on Twitter, which offers companies the option to reward people with bitcoins when they make a positive comment.
Team Blockcraft came third place, the team featured Zachary Denholm and Pete Cozens of C5, they created Blockcraft Auth, a secure authentication method replacing passwords and 2FA with trusted private/public key encryption and KYC via easy to use QR codes.
There was a separate category called the ‘What The Fintech’ (WTF) award, this was awarded to the Bitcoin Piggy Bank team, which included Max and Maia both under the age of 15, who came up with an iPad app for parents that rewards their children with Bitcoins for completing household chores.
David Edge, Director at C5 Alliance, and member of the winning team said: “Overall, the Hackathon was a great collaborative experience with each team driving forward towards the overall goal of coming up with an original and useful Fintech product.”
