He and his family moved to the UK 12 months ago, and he says that the demands of splitting his time between Jersey and the UK has proved too much.

Advocate Hanson was one of the founding partners in Hanson Renouf when it was formed in 2005 – last week the firm announced that it is to merge with another relatively new firm, David Benest Law.

Besides his private practice, he has also served as President of the Jersey Law Society, and has been a vocal spokesman on legal issues, particularly relating to family law and access to justice.

He said: “It is unusual to find such a happy group of employees who are willing to go the extra mile when a client needs the help.”
