The scheme, open to all Year 12 students, offers a week’s work shadowing with a Director or Senior Manager.

The Future Leaders scheme has been running for over 40 years and this year saw a broad range of organisations participating, including Island Equine Vets, States of Jersey Treasury, GeoMarine, and Silkworth.

A total of 17 students from across the island’s schools received certificates of participation, while a further 10 were Commended.

The three winners were:

  • First place – Distinction: Manu Uren, Hautlieu School (Manu shadowed Jerry Willis, director with HGL Associates)

  • Second place – Highly Commended: Adi Bors, Hautlieu School (Adi shadowed various directors at KPMG)

  • Third place – Highly Commended: Jack Stevens, Victoria College (Jack shadowed Leonie McCrann, Director with Marbral Advisory)

Chair of IoD Jersey’s Future Leaders sub-committee, Ceri Powell said, “The growth of our students through this process is truly inspirational and providing opportunities to our future generations is very much why I became involved with this IoD committee some eight years ago.”

KPMG have been sponsors of the scheme for over 15 years. Andrew Quinn, Managing Partner, said: “Over my 25 years at KPMG, some of the IoD Future Leaders students have returned to the firm for longer periods of work experience or a permanent role.

“Just a week of shadowing a Director can lead to great employment opportunities and careers.”
