The IEBF – an independent body which promotes commercial exchanges between the UK, the EU and India – nominates governments who have shown a commitment to transforming their economies by promoting trade and investment opportunities with high growth markets.

The ceremony took place at the House of Lords on 18 November and the Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, collected the award on behalf of the Government.

“I am pleased to be receiving this award on behalf of the Government of Jersey for the successes it has achieved since launching the Global Markets Strategy in 2017,” he said.

“The Strategy aims to broaden Jersey’s relations with high growth, global economies and create new opportunities for business in markets outside of Europe. I am proud of the political and commercial relationships the island has established with India, the Middle East and Africa. It is an honour for Jersey’s achievements in globalising its economy and creating new opportunities for Island businesses to be recognised in this way.”
